I came to Scotland with my two daughters (one was one at that time) after the war in Ukraine started. Before I started attending the Stirling School of English, I didn’t have opportunities to go to English classes because noone had creche facilities. Then, someone told me about the School, I think it was one of the volunteers from the School who knew I was a foreigner in the area. It was wonderful news because I was alone with 2 children and I didn’t know how to improve my English. I started attending the school last year and this year I moved to Stirling.

I’ve made friends and people say that my English is better than before. Also, when I study with Duolingo I realise I don’t check dictionary so often. Leaving my daughter at creche meant I could study English without any interruptions. I tried online classes but it didn’t work with my daughter-she interrupted me all the time and wanted to play. Here, in the School, I can focus on learning and it’s a little break from being a single mum. I can see my daughter’s smiling face, she’s playing well with other children, she’s happy in creche.

The Stirling School of English is so wonderful that provides crèche. I’ve even been to some social events organized by the school because children are welcome. My daughters joined the summer children’s programme and it was great to go on trips with my children as we don’t have a car.
