The Stirling School of English is a voluntary organisation that aims to provide low-cost English language tuition to all whose first language is not English, regardless of ability, ethnicity and political or religious beliefs. We try to be as flexible as possible to meet students’ needs while maintaining a high standard of learning.

Our aim is not only to provide English language teaching, but also to create a community where foreign students feel accepted and ‘at home’. Coming to a foreign country, not knowing anybody and not speaking the language well can be daunting. The Stirling School of English is a place where students can meet other students, young children can be left safely in the creche, and friendships are formed. All cultures are valued and accepted.

Over 70 students come to English classes each week and we’ve had students from more than 25 countries spanning 5 continents. While some fit easily into a beginners, intermediate or advanced group, others may have special needs. Some students may have lived in Scotland for a number of years and can speak English but not write it, whilst other students may have learnt a lot of grammar and vocabulary in their home country but are hardly able to understand the Scots or speak the language. We aim to help anyone who wants to learn.

Stirling School of English is a registered Charity in Scotland No SC029640

We have a duty of care to our tutors and students and the Board made the decision that the School will run classes online until 1st June, after which they will review the situation. In order for the Board to be fully informed, a subcommittee will meet to review the latest government advice.

The new semester will start on Monday 18th January and finish on Tuesday 1st June. That is 16 weeks of teaching (excluding the February and Spring break break).

    • Hello Cristina!
You’re welcome to join our classes at any time. Please come to the Rock centre in Stirling at 10:00 on the Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday morning of the first class you’d like to attend. Registration for classes is tomorrow, and classes resume on Wednesday. However you can register at any part of the term. Registration is £50 and you can attend as many classes for your level as you like, including our evening classes.
Thanks for contacting us! We hope to see you soon!

    • Thank you for your comment, unfortunately attendance of the Summer School classes is required on a weekly basis, as missing days/classes will disrupt the teaching schedule. Summer School will be running throughout July, and it is not necessary for you to attend all four weeks, just one that you can commit to. Please let us know if you require any further details about the Summer School programme.

  3. Hi! I am Federico and I’d like to improve my english. Could you give me more details about price and applying? Thank you.

    • Hi Frederico, thanks for getting in touch!
Morning classes for all levels of proficiency are held from 10:00 till 12:30 at the Rock Centre on Mondays, Tuesdays & Wednesdays. Registration for the current semester which ends in June will cost £50 plus £25 for a textbook.
We’re also holding a Summer School this year, which will run Monday – Friday from 3rd July to 28th July. Enrolment is on a weekly basis, costing £100 per week. You can find more information here – https://stirlingschoolofenglish.wordpress.com/summer-school-2017/
      Hope this helps!
