It’s been a busy month for our learners- many have participated in additional classes on difficult sounds for their nationalities and on language spoken on Scottish streets. These were organised in response to student feedback.
We had two additional sessions focusing on nationality-specific pronunciation difficulties delivered by Helen Johnston who completed a pronunciation teaching course a couple of years ago and is very much fascinated by the subject. Our students learnt how to make certain sounds correctly and practised saying troublesome words.
Other two sessions, led by Bill Pritchard, helped the students understand informal English spoken on streets, for example ‘I’m nae ready’, ‘Do you ken?’, ‘I cannae go’. Bill also introduced some Scottish songs and recommended some useful websites.
